Acai, Antioxidants, Health & Wellness
So how much fruit and vegetables did you have yesterday? How about the day before? And be honest... Well the majority of us do not consume the recommended five portions a day. Did you know in some countries they actually recommend seven?
As the dark nights draw in sooner, and it gets colder and colder, the season of colds and flu is upon us. Only the other week there were several people off sick from the office down with the dreaded lurgie again. So what can you do to protect yourself against this onslaught?
Research has shown that diets in Vitamin C may not prevent you from getting a cold or the flu, but it can take days off the recovery time and lessen the intensity of it too. It also assists in the repair and maintenance of your body which is good to know if you have not been eating properly during this period.
In other articles and blog posts we have discussed the conflict of interest that there is inherent in the system. The drugs companies are seeking drugs to treat diseases, and yet they are trying to deliver share holder value. Read more: Drugs Companies 'Misled' Public
There are many claims made about the acai berry, some claim it prevents cancer, others claim that this helps people to lose weight. So I came across this well written blog post by Jennifer Baden on the facts surrounding the acai berry.
In terms of weight loss I would just add that people have experienced it as an appetite suppressant, rather than blocking anything that is consumed by the body. Sorry it is not the case that you can eat all those burgers from your favourite fast food joint, take some MonaVie and be immune to the calories. It just don't work that way...
We keep an eye out for articles about antioxidants, the acai berry and other things that may be of interest. Well this article claims that taking higher than average levels of antioxidants may help prevent cataracts. Both my grandmother and mother have suffered from this affliction which is like a milky layer appearing in the cornea of the eye.
Whilst this treatable, what is interesting is that this article suggests that this condition (which left untreated can lead to blindness) is avoidable by taking a diet supplemented by antioxidants. All the more reason to take MonaVie as part of your every day routine.
A study by Swiss scientists have reached the conclusion that glucosamine supplements do not work. They have reviewed the findings of 10 previous studies and concluded that it does not aid in osteoarthritis of the hip or knee, and that any improvements were really as a result of the placebo effect.
No fewer than four friends and even my wife bought this article to my attention, asking what does this mean for MonaVie Active. Whether this means it is just the placebo effect or whether it really works.
I am often asked to explain about free radicals, where they come from, what harm they do and how MonaVie can help. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so this short video should be worth a thousand pictures:
Understand that free radicals are around you everywhere, you can see their effect on faded paper left out in the Sun, or an apple which has been cut and goes brown. You can seek to minimise them, but you cannot avoid them.
Given the numerous studies out there on the impact of free radicals on degenerative diseases, it really does make sense to take preventative measures.
A recent British study has found that high doses of Vitamin B has reduced the amount of brain loss in Alzheimer's patients, and protect the brain from degeneration.
So where are the vitamin B-complexes found? Well they are present in many foods out there that you currently eat. The good news is that if you are already taking MonaVie you are benefitting from their synergistic approach of using multiple fruits. Many of these fruits are covered in the 101 foods that might save your life book, you can find out more details about the fruit in his book that are in MonaVie in my blog post here.
