A study by Swiss scientists have reached the conclusion that glucosamine supplements do not work. They have reviewed the findings of 10 previous studies and concluded that it does not aid in osteoarthritis of the hip or knee, and that any improvements were really as a result of the placebo effect.

No fewer than four friends and even my wife bought this article to my attention, asking what does this mean for MonaVie Active. Whether this means it is just the placebo effect or whether it really works.

The first point to note is that the research was limited to people with osteoarthritis, and has not confirmed the impact on other types of pain. Furthermore, having listened to a radio interview with leading scientist, the studies were based on whether the people were free from pain as a result of taking glucosamine - something which is quite subjective.

Furthermore there are many other studies which show the benefits of taking glucosamine, not least the study by AIBMR that was conducted into the benefits of MonaVie Active (the one with plant based glucosamine). This study was conducted with high rigor, in a double blind placebo crossover, meaning that they switched the people part way through without telling them.

This study showed a significant, beyond statistical chance, that people experienced greater range of motion and mobility by taking MonaVie Active, as well as reduced inflammation and joint pain. It is possible that this is the combination of the glucosamine with the other 19 fruits including the acai berry (known to be a strong natural anti-inflammatory) that made the difference.

My advice to people would be, there are no know side effects of taking it, and there have been many many people around the world who have benefited from taking MonaVie Active. You will only find out by giving it a fair trial and finding out for yourself. For every scientific study that claims to provide conclusive proof of something there is another that provides the opposite. Which is why we at Star Builder when asked whether their is scientific proof, my response is 'why is that important to you?'.

Many things are proved by scientific studies, including drug trials, but years later they are shown to either be ineffective or cause horrendous side effects. The point is that if it works for you, like it does for the hundreds of thousands of customers around the world, then great. If not then, so be it, but unless you try it for a decent trial period you'll never know.

Kind of like always waiting for someone else to do it first, and never taking the plunge yourself, and then feeling like you missed the boat. That used to be me several years back, but my favourite saying is 'flip the pancake, what's the worst that can happen'.
