Network Marketing Blog

This is Andrew Wilkin's blog on building a network marketing business with MonaVie.

Here I will blog about my experiences and things that happen that don't necessarily warrant a full blown article.

A few weeks back I wrote about the impact the cold weather was going to have on small businesses. Well the white misery has returned, don't get me wrong, I enjoy the blanket of snow with the kids. I am also lucky that the presents I have bought over the net have not been caught up in the snow or the backlog from the previous snow flurry.

Check out this article about how shoppers are staying away, despite the balloon effect expected by the impending VAT rise in January. The picture of Oxford street on what is supposed to be one of the busiest shopping days of the year. They estimate in the media that there is a backlog of 4 million parcels that will not arrive in time for Christmas. This will also certainly drive more businesses under, further compounding the problems we are going to see in 2011.

So next time you see the white covering outside, and you're having a good time with the kids, spare a thought for those that may be more than snowed under as a result.

There are a number of people that say to me, if the acai is so good, why is it not all over the press. So I point out that it was in the Telegraph, has been in Vogue magazine, discussed on Oprah, etc. etc. Well for those living in London who reads the Evening Standard, I thought I'd point out that this article on acai written just last week.

Now i you're going to choose an acai based product choose one that is of a far higher quality than you're going to find on the shelves of the health store. After all it is like calling Kaliber real beer, the two are poles apart, and if you are taking it for your health wouldn't you rather take the product being taken by people such as Daley Thompson and Denzel Washington?

For those that struggled through the snow in London to see at Business Startup in Earls Court, we'd like to thank you for making a great time. Despite the weather we spoke to a lot of people that were just as excited about MonaVie as we were. Visitor numbers were down by over a half, as people that normally come from outside of London thought better of it.

We heard on Thursday that the venue we were hosting the Home Business Workshop could not guarantee staff availability for today's event. So with a heavy heart we sent out the cancellation message to the many people that were looking forward to coming along. We will however be running it in 2011, most likely in February time (weather permitting of course).

There is however a knock on effect to the economy, when I ran a courier business a couple of years ago we could not move vehicles for 3 days, we lost a number of what was until then loyal customers, and suffered a dent in our cashflow that was so severe that it was certainly a contributory factor in the demise 8 months later. So have a thought for all those small businesses out there, like the bars and restaurants that had already ordered food in, or the delivery companies that cannot put vehicles on the road.

Whilst some companies such as jewelers make most of their profit in this quarter, others who have a lean patch may well be pushed over the edge. A recent BBC article said these few days of cold weather was likely to be the death knell to just under a thousand small businesses, and with the VAT rise in January this is only likely to get worse.

So what's my point, well my point is simply this, if you dream of financial freedom then running a small business is not likely to give you that dream, there are too many traps laid out to get you. I only wish I had discovered Network Marketing and MonaVie several years ago prior to launching the parcel company I ran. It is more fun, lower risk and far more forgiving of mistakes and external pressures.

In a piece of research that belongs in the ministry of the kind of obvious, retiring early is deemed to be good for your mental health. The point being that those that can afford to retire early have built up sufficient wealth to allow them to do so, by not staying in a dead end job as part of the rat race.
