Background

We all suffer set backs, something does not go the way you had planned, or you have had a week of people laughing at the mere suggestion of joining your team. All to often we throw our arms up in the air in the face of adversity, say we tried, and resign ourselves to failure.

I'm a highly motivated person, but I have lost count of the number of times I was going to take more exercise, and despite what people say, there is almost always possible to make time for things such as exercise. This article covers why to keep going in an MLM and how to keep yourself motivated in the face of set backs.

Why Keep Going?

Despite what people may have said when you first attended that exciting presentation, it is going to take concerted effort to succeed in this business. The time taken to move up the reward structure of your MLM will depend on effort expended, how smart you work, and who you get involved in your team, and of course a pinch of luck. The key thing here is that there is nothing stopping you reaching the top of the reward structure if you want it badly enough - and it makes no difference if you drive a bus or a CEO of a large organisation, you all have the same chance of success.

The point though is that so long as you keep on adding people to your team, adding retail sales volume, and mentoring your team to do the same, you will move up the reward structure as sure as the sun rises in the East and sets in the West. The challenge is keeping yourself and your team going through the days when things just seem to go wrong.

The world of network marketing is littered with stories of people that gave up just a moment too soon, and who would have been otherwise amongst the top earners in their organisation. That said don't delude yourself that it will come right if you sit back and do nothing, as Tom Hopkins says productivity follows activity! Even those that reach the top don't stop training, sponsoring and mentoring their downline - they just have the opportunity to have far more work-life balance in their lives (this is the view of retirement I subscribe to).

Don't Be A Fool

As the saying goes, a fool is someone who does the same as he did last year but expects different results. If everyone you approach is uninterested or never joins your team, yet you are speaking to lots of people, you are probably doing something wrong - time to seek support from your upline. It is in their interest to mentor you, it is how they become successful. They do not become successful by you failing and quitting.

As Simon Hazeldine says, what do you get if you motivate and idiot... a motivated idiot. That is to say if you do not pick up the learnings and the skills along the way, you will not achieve success. You have to commit to learning your products, learning what people like about them, and how to approach people about both the product and the business opportunity. Our MLM has lots of tools to help you here, and the Star Builder team are there to support you every step of the way.

How To Keep Motivated

There are a number of things that will help keep you motivated and on the fast track to success, I positively endorse all of these and have kept me going through some very tough times in my life:

  • Surround yourself with people you want to be like and motivated people, it has a tendency to rub off on you. Commit to being a leader in the Star Builder team.
  • Practice the art of goal setting, setting activities daily. You will achieve far more and you will see what you have achieved - which is a great motivator to keep you going.
  • If you are making calls, and getting knock backs, then keep calling until you get a success - always finish on a high not a low.
  • If you're down go up, if you're up go down (that is to say if you are feeling down call your upline, but if your up call your downline) - an excellent tip from Mark and Rene Yarnell.
  • Reward yourself when you reach goals and targets, and involve those around you. It's amazing how much support you'll get from your kids if they thing they will get a new wii game if you hit your target!
  • Keep reading and learning in areas of weakness, and ask for help where necessary
  • Avoid dwelling on news items, they tend to be very negative, as the positive stuff just doesn't stop pulling in the audiences.
  • Make your inner voice a positive one, use the power of positiv affirmations. As Jamie Smart master NLP practitioner says "I used to think affirmations were complete rubbish until I realised that I was doing them all the time, except they were just shitty. Now I hijack them and have got my inner voice telling me how good I am things and giving me confidence".
  • Adopt the champions creed as espoused by Tom Hopkins, I am not judged by the number of times I fail but the number of times I succeed with the possibility of failing. Did you know Edison tried over a 1,000 times when inventing the light bulb - without his courage and conviction we would quite literally be in the dark!

So the moral of this article, never give up and never give in, but do use all the tools available to make yourself a success. Success is in your hands and people from the Star Builder are on hand to help those that show willing.
