Background
This tongue in cheek article explores the alienation of friends and family through preaching about the virtues of your MLM and its products. Many people make the mistake of alienating their "warm market" at the behest of their sponsor or upline.
This article explains why you should not rush to convert those close to you to working with you, and how it should be approached by first planting seed and then tending to them, rather than going in like the proverbial bull in a china shop.
Are You the Jehovahs Witness?
Most people have experienced a Jehovahs Witness arriving on their doorstep, yes they are full of belief, but they are diometriaclly opposite your set of beliefs. Yet you cannot get rid of them, and they handle your objections and knock backs relentlessly, never giving up in trying to convert you.
If you're not careful, your first few steps as a new MLM distributor will be as such an evangilist, after all you believe the product otherwise you would not have become a distributor, would you? However with the incorrect approach you will be viewed no differently as a Jehovahs Witness turning up on their doorstep or someone else they'd also rather get rid of.
As all good sponsors know through their experience, first you must understand the products, next you must understand the benefits of an MLM structure, then finally you need to know how to best explain it to people and indeed which people. So why is it they encourage people to immediately after signing up to work their warm market is beyond us here at Star Builder.
We believe that you need to have spent the first fourteen days following through training and coaching, and even then thereafter approaching the wild only with the mentorship of your sponsor. Failure to adopt this approach is to set yourself up for failure, but far worse if you are not careful you will alienate both close friends and family. Perhaps they do not understand the difference between an MLM and a pyramid, but you will unlikely to be equiped with sufficient knowledge to handle the situation.
The result? Well you lose friends and family who are entrenched in their view, and think of you as some crazy. DO NOT start trying to preach to friends and family, as Star Builders follow through the various guides such as "My First Seven Days" and the "28 Days Later" and talk to your sponsor before you try approaching your war market. Many people who fail in MLMs suffer an onslaught of rejection from their friends and family, once you have alienated your warm market it is unlikely you will ever turn them around - wouldn't you rather have them onside?
